First and foremost in African Fashion History,
"Afrik Elegance," a fashion show organised by top new yorker designer B.OYAMA and AGI Agency under United Nations patronage held its first edition on Septembre 13, 2008 at Pennsylvania Hotel in New York City.
"Afrik Elegance" regroups several designers from African countries to promote African Haute Couture and its Fashion Industry.
Among the participants, Madagascar, represented by Haingotiana, Haute Couture designer settled in France (Toulouse).

Georges Andriamanantena aka Rado, Honorary President of Havatsa Upem, Doyen of the Malagasy Academy, the greatest poet, writer and painter in Malagasy history passed away at age 85 on September 15, 2008. From simple citizens to political personalities present today September 18 at his burial in the family vault "Markapela" in Anjanahary, Rado was remembered as a national hero, a treasure of Malagasy culture that would be missed but will stay forever through his works among Malagasy people.
MADAGASCAR! AT THE BRONX ZOO - OFFICIAL OPENING
"The Wildlife Conservation Society's new exhibit featuring Madagascar is a window on our conservation of wildlife in that beautiful island country. The exhibit's placement in the historic Lion House at the center of the Bronx Zoo symbolizes Madagascar's importance to the world of wild nature," said Dr.Steve E. Sanderson, WCS President and CEO. Indeed WCS went further into preserving Madagascar's natural treasures by recreating since 2004 the island's climate and various habitats in the old Lion House of the Bronx Zoo on Astor Court officially inaugurated on June 19, 2008...

JIM CARREY IN MADAGASCAR
Blockbuster movie star Jim Carrey visit in Madagascar was within the scope of the Paddy-field Intensive System Summit which will be held in Madagascar, March 2009. President of Better U, a foundation working in farming and major sponsor of the next year event, Carrey and the President Dr.Marc Ravalomanana visited one of the largest ricefield of the country located in Ambatondrazaka. Carrey also met Malagasy filmmakers at CEMDLAC in Analakely during his short visit.

FKM-NY INAUGURATION
ALPHA BLONDY known for his 80's hit "Sweet Fanta Diallo" and probably the last King of Reggae will be in Antananarivo beginning of November (no specific date yet) and performing at the "Stade Couvert de Mahamasina."
The President of the Republic of Madagascar, Dr.Marc Ravalomanana, his spouse and members of his government and staff attended the inauguration ceremony of FKM-NY (Fiangonana Kristianina Malagasy - New York) in New Jersey on Septembre 21, 2008.
